| Keep Your Chalkboard Shiny! |
|
Here's a trick to keep your chalkboard clean and shiny looking without having to wash it. Simply wrap a tissue (that has either lanolin or aloe in it) around your eraser and secure with a rubber band. When you wipe the board, it shines! |
| Whiteboard Not So White Anymore? Cleaning Off Permanent Markers |
Inevitably it will happen: Someone unknowingly writes on the whiteboard with a permanent marker. In most cases fingernail polish remover or rubbing alcohol will remove the ink. If the mark is relatively fresh, you can color over it with a dry erase marker (the kind meant for whiteboards) and then erase as usual. Sometimes this will take the permanent marker off. |
| Students Whiteboards |
| Many teachers are finding it useful to have a small whiteboard for each student to use during class instruction (particularly math). Simply buy the whiteboard at your local home improvement center. Ask if they will cut it in squares for you. (Mention that it's for your students!) Tape the rough edges with electrical tape. Students can use an old sock (on their hand) to erase with. |
| E-Z Student Whiteboards |
 Instead of actual whiteboard, buy a package of extra-heavy, white plastic plates. Students can use Expo markers on them. Best of all: They don't take up a lot of storage space and stack neatly when not in use. |
| Assignment Board |
| To keep my students aware of what assignments are due by the end of the week, I made subject cards. I printed the subjects on the computer, glued them to bright construction paper, laminated them, and attached a magnet to the back. These cards are placed on my white board. Each week a student is responsible for listing each day's work. This also helps students who were absent to know what they missed. Submitted by: AnneMarie Frank |
