Title: The Live Butterfly Activity Book
Author: Robert Drake; Illustrated by Garth Bruner
Publisher/Date: Insect Lore/2002
ISBN: 1-891541-02-1
Target Audience: Pre-K - 8th grade teachers

If you've ever wanted to introduce your students to live butterflies but didn't know how, this book is the answer. Beginning with "Lab Facts" such as safety, metamorphosis, and more, the author then provides readers with seventeen chapters of activities, lessons, ideas, and suggestions.

Each lesson begins with "Content, Skills and Indicators." Also included with each are timelines, prep notes, hints, illustrations, learning models, "word power" activities, and enrichment ideas. Everything you need to know is here. Best of all, the lessons follow the National Science Education Standards and the Head Start Program Performance Standards. (Aligning your lesson with state and national standards is a breeze!)

Based on the principle of KISMIF (Keep it simple; Make it Fun!), this wonderful guide will help you introduce your students to the wonders and excitement of raising butterflies. An excellent resource.
