Overview: An easy, fun way for students to write their own short stories. Stories are based on ideas suggested by photographs.

Materials:

  • Colorful Photographs
  • Writing and drawing materials

Procedure:

  • Give students five colorful photographs from which to choose.
  • Ask the students to pick one photo that they really like and create a title for the photo.
  • Discuss the photo with them.
  • Ask them what they "see happening" next in their photo and have them draw this.
  • Then, ask students to write about what they just drew.

Before you know it, they will have written and illustrated their own stories!
