There was an old woman,
Who was really a mouse,
Who lived in a shoe
That was really a house.
So begins the short, rhyming text in this delightful board book (cut in the shape of a shoe). The shoe/house in this case is filled with "many messy mice" and one very tired mommy mouse. Exhausted from trying to do all the chores herself, mommy mouse comes up with a grand plan: Everyone will pitch in. Not only was their shoe "neat and clean," they still had time for "play and fun."
The sturdy board pages are filled with die-cut windows and doors, allowing the reader to peek ahead. The cartoon illustrations are bright, colorful, and bursting with energy.
The book was a huge hit with the toddlers to whom we read it.
