National Jewish Book Award Winners

 
 

The National Jewish Book Award: Children's Picture Book (1983 - present) is presented to an author or illustrator of children's books which concern Jewish themes. The award is administered by the Jewish Book Council whose mission it is to promote the reading, writing and publishing of quality English language books of Jewish content in North America. (Note: The last year for which an award was given was 2000.)

•  1991: Hanukkah! by Roni Schotter; Illustrated by Marylin Hafner

•  1990: Berchick by Esther Blanc; Illustrated by Tennessee Dixon

•  1989: Just Enough Is Plenty: A Hanukkah Tale by Barbara Diamond Goldin; Illustrated by
             Erika Weihs

•  1988: Exodus by Miriam Chaikin; Illustrated by Charles Mikolaycak

•  1987: Poems for Jewish Holidays by Myra Cohn Livingston; Illustrated by Lloyd Bloom

•  1986: Brothers: A Hebrew Legend by Florence Freedman; Illustrated by Robert Andrew Parker

•  1985: Mrs. Moskowitz and the Sabbath Candlesticks Illustrated by Amy Schwartz

•  1984: No Award Presented

•  1983: Yussel's Prayer: A Yom Kippur Story by Barbara Cohen; Illustrated by Michael J. Deraney
